The Synergetix story is linked to the history of another company, Interconnect Devices, Inc. (IDI).

Founded in 1979, Interconnect Devices, Inc (IDI) is the recognized world leader in the design and manufacturing of spring contact probes for the Automated Test Equipment (ATE) industry. Spring contact probes had proven themselves to be ideal electrical-mechanical connections for PCB testing. And IDI became the category dominator, topping the industry’s brand preference studies.

In the early 90’s, test engineers were frustrated by the current state of interconnect options used in test sockets, i.e. elastomer, bent metal, etc. They wanted higher reliability, and, as their designs were going smaller, they needed interconnect solutions that could keep pace.

In 1994, IDI made the strategic decision to introduce their probe technology in a line of custom high performance test sockets.

The brand, Synergetix ^®, was introduced to focus expressly on sophisticated interconnection. Over a decade later, Synergetix has an impressive, international roster of leading companies who have the highest standards for interconnect performance.

On April 3, 2009, Interconnect Devices, Inc.acquired Antares brand of test sockets. The addition of the Antares product line combined with the manufacturing facilities in Suzhou, China and Gilbert, AZ will allow the combined company to provide our customers with even greater depth of technological advancement while continuing our legacy of superior product performance and customer service.

Today, Interconnect Devices, Inc.(IDI), the leader in high performance spring probes, produces Antares & Synergetix brand test sockets. We are a leader in the design and manufacture of custom high performance test sockets for the semiconductor industry.Our sockets provide high cycle life, consistent resistance and bandwidths >10 GHz even at 0.4mm pitches.
